It’s Been Awhile — Life is Crazy with the Bailies!

It’s been months since I have written a fresh post for y’all. I planned to take a much shorter hiatus, but time just got away from me.

Because, you know — life is nuts.

A whole LOT has happened since October — most of which contributed to my lengthy vacay from blogging — and I would like to use this post to share with you what is going on in the Bailie household as of late.

So please bear with me as I tell you all about how crazy this #momlife has been.

1. New house, who dis?

Right around the time y’all last heard from me, we had just moved into a new house. The entire process of selling, buying, and moving was absolute chaos — especially with an eleven-month-old starting to run around like a headless chicken.

We closed on the sale of our condo before we closed on the purchase of our new home.

Yes — you read that correctly.

We were literally HOMELESS for (what was supposed to be a week) over two weeks! We moved all of our stuff into a storage unit and checked in at a Staybridge Suites while we awaited the closing of our new home.

Unfortunately, the closing date kept getting pushed back due to a hurricane in the area and roofing issues.

Sigh.

So we were stuck in a hotel for awhile.

Thankfully, my husband and I tend to be look-on-the-brightside-kind-of-people and we made the best of it! We didn’t have to clean our room, and there was a buffet waiting downstairs every morning at breakfast. Our suite had a kitchenette so we were able to cook in our room when we needed to. I mean — not bad, right?

Honestly, now that we are settled into our home, there are days I miss being at the hotel. I miss the carefree feeling that comes with the lack of to-do lists and breakfast you don’t have to make — or clean up — yourself!

2. Jo turned ONE!

Our sweet girl turned one at the end of October.

YAY!

And my entire family flew in from Western NY to celebrate — for ten days! Our small house was loaded with people — and kiddos. It was absolute chaos, but it was such a love-filled week and a half. Those days were riddled with movie times, game nights, Disney trips, Halloween shenanigans, and birthday celebrations.

There was not a dull moment those last two weeks in October!

3. Expecting baby #2!

Around the same time our darling Jo turned one, we discovered our little family of three would soon become a family of four! And then shortly after that, the morning sickness, extreme fatigue, and overall-bleh feeling of the first trimester took over.

From weeks six to nine, I was basically couch-and-bed-bound. Jeremy ended up having to cut a lot of his work hours to help me at home with Jo on the days where I could barely move without wanting to vomit my brains out. Sorry if that statement was a little too graphic for you — it’s just true! The morning sickness I had in my first pregnancy does not hold a candle to what I have felt this pregnancy — UGH.

Weeks ten through thirteen were still a little rocky, but I atleast no longer felt as if I was on a boat that was constantly rocking back and forth. I did, however, get hit with a UTI around that point — which meant antibiotics. Antibiotics with side effects. Side effects that included nausea and vomiting.

Sigh.

So, basically, the entire first trimester was a wash for me. No writing occurred — and that’s okay — because rarely did putting on pants occur either.

4. Oh, the holidays

Next up in the craziness of #momlife — the holidays. Between decorating, shopping, attending events, and planning our travels, we were all exhausted. And for my fellow mamas, I know I don’t have to mention that the busiest time of year is also the start of cold and flu season — but we will talk about that in a minute.

Every year we travel up north to see my family for the holidays after Christmas Day. We spend Christmas Eve with my husband’s family and then have Christmas Day in our own home as a family. Well, this year was a little more chaotic than usual.

I woke up on Christmas Day with terrible TMJ pain (the joint that your jaw uses to open and close) and I was unable to open my mouth fully. It was excruciatingly painful and I could barely eat that day. Our flight to NY was scheduled for the following day and I was praying it would resolve itself by then.

Nope.

In fact, it still has not gone back to normal! Thankfully, I am in minimal pain. I just can’t seem to open my jaw all the way and trying to force it to open wider than it wants to does cause pain. So, I just take it easy and limit what foods I eat.

Anyway, we finally made it to NY to see my family. We spent nine days hopping from one Christmas gathering to another, visiting with friends and family we only see once or twice a year, and also doing our best to make time for rest and relaxation. We enjoyed our time (and the cold), but we were ready to come home by the end of it all! We definitely missed being in a routine.

5. Freaking flu season

As soon as we arrived home from our trip up north, we were all ill.

I had caught a cold (that later transformed into a sinus infection), my daughter was fighting an upper respiratory infection and started throwing up, and my husband also came down with a bout of the flu — all within the first week of being back home.

After my husband and daughter were feeling better, I was still fighting a sinus infection and finally started a round of antibiotics to help speed up the recovery process. Well, not even twelve hours after starting the antibiotics, I came down with the flu.

The flu. While pregnant.

And It hit me hard.

For 72 hours I was in bed. I had the chills. I was sweating. I was throwing up every twenty minutes. I was fighting off headaches left and right. I was so unbelievably tired. I was achey.

It was horrible! My husband had to take off work to be with our daughter while I quarantined myself to our bedroom for three days.

Thankfully, my doctor was able to get me on Tamiflu Lamont’s immediately and after the 72 hours were up, I was feeling better. For the next few days, I still felt achey and congested (still had that sinus infection, remember?), but I finally was feeling like myself again by the end of the week.

So unless this #momlife starts using me as a punching bag again soon, you should be back to hearing from me regularly.”

There you have it. This past season of #momlife has definitely been one for the books. And in the books it shall stay, because I do not wish to live in the craziness again anytime soon!

But, I’m back now. I’m feeling great in the second trimester and am ready to get back into the swing of things.

So unless this #momlife starts using me as a punching bag again soon, you should be back to hearing from me regularly.

I’ve missed y’all. Thanks for sticking it out with me.
